Columbia, MD – AMDA – The Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care (PALTC) Medicine is now the Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medical Association (PALTmed). The new name is representative of the organization’s diverse membership, which includes medical directors, attending physicians, nurse practitioners, physician associates, consultant pharmacists, and doctorly-prepared clinicians.

This interdisciplinary team of clinicians deserves an inclusive professional association that responds to its interests, establishes practice standards, and encourages professional advancement for all. That’s precisely what PALTmed offers.

“PALTmed truly represents our membership—who we are, what we do, and what we stand for,” says Board President Rajeev Kumar, MD, FACP, CMD. “Our mission is to promote and enhance the development of skilled, compassionate, and committed practitioners, clinicians, and leaders  who provide person-centered, goal-concordant care across all post-acute and long-term care settings—all while maintaining the nurturing family atmosphere that has been our tradition.”

“It was an important day when our House of Delegates unanimously approved our name change; they realized that our organization needed to change, just as post-acute and long-term care has changed over the years,” adds Executive Director Michelle Zinnert, CAE. “But our job is not done. PALTmed will continue to evolve to meet the needs of our membership and empower them to serve their patients and residents with competence and compassion. It’s an exciting time for everyone.”

The initial changes include:

  • A new URL: paltmed.org
  • The weekly e-newsletter will now be PALTnews and feature the latest organization and industry news
  • The AMDA On-The-Go podcast series will be known as PALTtalk

Please contact Ellen Mullally at emullally@paltmed.org if you are interested in speaking with Dr. Kumar about PALTmed.
