The Leadership Council of Aging Organizations (LCAO), representing 68 nonprofit groups, including PALTmed, has raised concerns about potential impacts on services for older adults as the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) restructures. In a letter to HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the LCAO emphasized the importance of maintaining essential programs administered by the Administration for Community Living (ACL), which support older adults’ ability to remain in their homes and communities.

As the aging population grows rapidly, the LCAO stressed the need to preserve the role of the assistant secretary for aging and ensure continued coordination between federal, state, and community organizations. The coalition called for clarity on how the restructuring will affect aging programs, funding, and staffing, urging that vital services like Meals on Wheels and family caregiver support are not disrupted.

PALTmed, as a member of LCAO, fully supported the letter’s call to prioritize the well-being of older Americans during the HHS transformation. The LCAO urges HHS to ensure uninterrupted access to crucial services for older adults.
