You may be thinking about the holidays, but PALTC25 will be here before you know it. Now is the time to make plans to attend the premier post-acute and long-term care medicine conference. While there are dozens of reasons to come to Charlotte, NC, March 13-15, here are the top five:
- A comprehensive, cutting-edge educational program. The Education Committee and Program Planning Workgroup have been listening to PALTmed members about the topics, issues, and challenges they are most interested in. “People are really excited about practical applications and best practices,” said this year’s program chair, Diane Sanders-Cepeda, DO, CMD. The program includes sessions on everything from meaningful AI, the anatomy of an award-winning memory care service, and optimizing care transitions to resolving PALTC conflicts, opioid use disorder, vaccinations, and sepsis. There truly is a session that addresses just about any question, concern, or challenge practitioners and their teams face. There also will be programs such as Dr. Stephen Trzeciak’s Opening Keynote on compassion and the compassion crisis to promote self-care. Staffing is on everyone’s minds, and there will be sessions on empowering, engaging, and motivating staff. Not only do the sessions provide expertise and the latest information, says Dr. Sanders-Cepeda, but they also are springboards for important conversations and action. “Our members want to hear how to affect change and bring new ideas and positive innovations to our facilities, so I'm excited that we will have more conversations around vaccinations, sepsis, and other bread-and-butter topics. We’ll also be talking about how we can inspire and ignite passion,” she notes.
- Unique and novel networking opportunities. The conference provides opportunities to ask questions, share experiences, challenges, and successes, and get what you need to deliver better solutions to the people you care about. “This conference brings people together and gives them a chance to have conversations about the issues and questions that are of greatest interest and concern to them,” says Dr. Sanders-Cepeda. “There’s something special about connecting with passionate people you respect and sharing your feelings and thoughts. You come away feeling more positive about what you’re doing and your ability to navigate change.” She further noted, “For first-time participants, I suggest making it your goal to meet as many people as possible. You never know where a conversation or new connection might take you.” One great chance to meet people is during the PALTC25 Mixer at the NASCAR Hall of Fame on Friday, March 14, at 7:00 PM.
- Cutting-edge exhibits. The exhibits are always fascinating, fun, and futuristic. Dr. Sanders-Cepeda says, “We're always getting to know what's new and what's coming down the pike, and this space gives you ideas about how to make your practice, your team, and your facilities more productive.” She adds, “I’m very excited about seeing what’s new and what the cutting-edge trends are.” The exhibits also present opportunities to sample technology and devices firsthand and talk with colleagues, vendors, and experts from across the country.
- The sights, sounds, and fun of Charlotte. Charlotte is known as the Queen City, and you will feel like royalty when you visit. There are restaurants for any taste, museums for everything from art and illusions to aviation and history, an amusement park and other kid-friendly amenities, an array of shops and stores, and parks galore. “Charlotte is a great city. It’s lovely and walkable. When you’re not in meetings and sessions, you’ll have an almost endless variety of things to do,” says Dr. Sanders-Cepeda.
- Virtual Learning Track. If you can’t attend the conference, the Virtual Learning Track offers access to three live-streamed General Sessions, 11 live-streamed sessions from various tracks, access to all recorded conference sessions until the end of March, a virtual poster wall, and an online exhibitor directory. If you change your mind and want to attend in person, you can revise your registration with no change fee.
“This meeting is where you learn how to innovate and inspire. It’s also where you connect with colleagues, friends, and nationally known experts and stay at the forefront of clinical quality long-term care,” says Dr. Sanders-Cepeda. “There’s no other conference like it.”
Registration is now open, and special Early Bird rates are available through December 31. Go here to register or for more information.
