PALTmed resolves to work to promulgate clinical practice guidelines for pain control in long-term care; and through the Foundation for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine support education and research in pain management in long-term care.
FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED, that PALTmed and its affiliate state chapters work to reduce regulatory barriers to adequate pain control at the federal and state levels, including supporting the passage of intractable Pain Treatment Acts, based on the model act developed by the American Society of Law, Medicine and Ethics.
ALSO, FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED, that PALTmed bring a similar resolution to the American Medical Association at its 1998 annual meeting for its consideration and support.
