THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medical Association (PALTmed) initiate discussions with hospital and hospitalist organizations to make them aware of the need for appropriately written prescriptions for controlled substances when a resident is discharged to post-acute and long-term care facility;

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medical Association (PALTmed) work with legislators, regulatory agencies, and pharmacy organizations to promulgate secure, regulatory-compliant electronic means of prescribing controlled substances to ensure ready patient access to needed medications in the post-acute and long-term care (PALTC) setting.
