BE IT RESOLVED, that that Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medical Association (PALTmed) Board of Directors add the topic of requiring post-acute and long-term care (PALTC) exposure in schools of nursing for both pre-licensure and advanced practice nursing students, to PALTmed’s strategic plan;
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that PALTmed formally recommend that the American Nurses Association, American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, American Academy of Nursing, American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Coalition of Geriatric Nursing Organizations, National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties, and other stakeholder organizations support a mandatory minimum exposure to the post-acute and long-term care (PALTC) setting in schools of nursing for both pre-licensure and advanced practice nursing students;
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that PALTmed collaborate with the Gerontological Advanced Practice Nurses Association to communicate with other stakeholder organizations and to develop a combined strategy to promote of the expansion of PALTC experience in schools of nursing for both pre-licensure and advanced practice nursing education.
