Call for Board Nominations Overview
PALTmed’s governance structure and processes are designed to serve members and the field efficiently and effectively, as well as to meet the current and future needs of the Association, its members and the PALTC community. The PALTmed Board of Directors is empowered to carry out the business of the Association and is responsible for fiduciary oversight. It is responsible for overseeing and transacting the business necessary to achieve PALTmed’s goals and to fulfill its mission. Board terms run April to March.
Nominations will be open September 18 – October 3.
Vice President
Term: April 2026 – March 2027; Succeeds to President-Elect, President, and Immediate Past President for four years of service ending December 2030
Criteria: Candidates nominated for Vice President must meet the criteria as noted:
- Served as a committee chair, treasurer, or board member.
- Must not have conflicts with companies during their term of service and must meet additional qualifications as outlined in the Vice President job description.
Vice Chair, House of Delegates
Term: April 2026 – March 2028 (two years); succeeds to Chair, House of Delegates
Criteria: Candidates nominated to the position of Vice Chair, House of Delegates must meet the criteria as noted:
- Two years prior service as a delegate to the PALTmed House of Delegates.
- Interest in leading the House of Delegates and supporting the policy work of PALTmed.
- Meets additional qualifications and expectations as set forth in the Vice Chair, House of Delegates job description.
Director at Large
Term: April 2026 – March 2029 (three years)
Criteria: Candidates nominated to the Director at Large position must meet the criteria as noted:
- Candidates nominated to the Director at Large position must meet the criteria and expectations as set forth in the Director at Large job description.
- Open to members in any practice setting who have been a PALTmed member in good standing for three years.
Nominee Considerations
Nominees should have prior involvement or service with PALTmed. The nominee should have demonstrated the ability to think strategically, commit to working effectively within a collective decision-making body and have knowledge of or experience with association governance. The Leadership Development Committee will consider nominations in the context of the following:
- Demonstrated leadership skills (not an ability to manage, but to lead).
- Capacity for forward thinking; nimble and adaptive.
- Ability to build strong working relations internally and externally.
- Understanding and awareness of professional and business issues pertinent to PALTmed members.
- Positive attitude (optimistic, fun, respectful, inclusive)
Each year the Board will identify specific skills and attributes (practice setting, geographic region, professional disciplines, etc.), that will strengthen the Board based upon the current Board composition and strategic goals of the Association.
Call for Nominations Process
The call for nominations starts the process of choosing the officers and directors of the PALTmed Board. The Leadership Development Committee oversees this process each year. A formal process is utilized each year and includes the following:
- The Board considers the skills and attributes it is seeking for new Board candidates.
- The Leadership Development Committee, working with staff, updates the Call for Board Nominations to ensure it aligns with the needs of the Board.
- PALTmed members are notified of the open positions and are encouraged to self-nominate, if eligible, or recommend qualified members for consideration.
- Interested applicants are required to fill out the nomination application.
- The Leadership Development Committee meets to finalize the slate of candidates based on the criteria established by the Board at the start of the process.
- The Leadership Development Committee interviews all candidates to ensure their commitment and expertise prior to finalizing the slate of candidates.
- PALTmed members will be presented with the slate for an electronic vote. Elections will remain open for 2 weeks.

- You can nominate yourself for a Board position or contact kstraubing@paltmed.org to nominate a colleague.
- Ensure your membership dues are paid in full through year-end.
- Complete the Board of Directors Nomination Form by the application deadline (October 3, 2025).
