The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has extended the revalidation deadline for skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) from August 1, 2025, to January 1, 2026. This extension gives SNFs additional time to update and submit their Medicare enrollment information, as part of CMS’ broader effort to improve ownership transparency.
Last fall, CMS notified SNFs, via their Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs), to complete revalidation using the revised Medicare Provider Enrollment Application (Form CMS-855A). As part of this process, facilities must report detailed ownership, managerial, and related party information, including identification of medical directors. All of this information will be publicly available on the CMS data portal.
