The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced an indefinite suspension of the January 1, 2026, revalidation deadline for skilled nursing facilities (SNFs). This revalidation process was the primary mechanism CMS introduced to collect detailed ownership, managerial, and related-party information, including medical director data, through the revised Form CMS-855A and its SNF Attachment.

While the deadline has been lifted, CMS clarified that facilities must remain proactive. As the agency stated, “Enrolled skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) should continue collecting data on ownership, managerial, and related party information and submit their revalidation. However, there is no submission deadline until further notice.”

The revalidation initiative reflects CMS’ broader transparency goals, ensuring that critical data about facility leadership and medical directors is publicly accessible.
