CMS Updates Prescriber’s Guide to Part D Opioid Policies

CMS has revised its Prescriber’s Guide to Medicare Part D Opioid Policies to help prescribers stay current with opioid-related coverage rules. The update clarifies that Part D plans have 3 days to send a second notice when implementing a coverage limitation, standardizes terminology by referring to medication-assisted treatment as medications for opioid use disorder (OUD), and adds guidance on Opioid Treatment Programs (OTPs).
