The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is inviting practices participating in the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) to share their experiences through its MIPS Value Pathways (MVP) Adoption Survey. CMS welcomes input from practices already reporting through an MVP, those preparing to participate, and those that have not begun the transition. You do not need to have adopted an MVP to provide feedback.
The survey takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. Participation is voluntary and confidential, and responses will be reported in aggregate to protect the identities of individuals and practices. CMS will use the feedback to identify what is working, understand adoption challenges, and inform improvements to the reporting process.
For post-acute and long-term care practices, potential topics to raise include whether available measures reflect the care your practice delivers, the resources needed to collect and report data, and any challenges accessing information across care settings. Consider sharing specific examples of both successful approaches and barriers your practice has encountered.
Separately, CMS has proposed ending traditional MIPS reporting after the 2028 performance year. Beginning with the 2029 performance year, MVPs would become the only MIPS reporting option for MIPS-eligible clinicians who do not participate in a MIPS Alternative Payment Model (APM). Clinicians participating in a MIPS APM would retain the option to report through the APM Performance Pathway (APP)/APP Plus. These changes remain proposed and do not alter current reporting requirements.
