Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Democratic staff have released a request for information (RFI) on proposals to improve access to affordable long-term care, strengthen nursing home quality, and support the long-term care workforce. The effort explores how Medicare, Medicaid, and other supports can better meet the needs of older adults, people with disabilities, and their families.
The RFI covers three broad areas: making home care more affordable and accessible, improving nursing home care, and strengthening the workforce. Topics include a universal home care benefit, nursing home staffing standards, ownership and financial transparency, quality measurement, and survey and oversight processes. It also seeks feedback on workforce compensation, training and career advancement, and ways to better support family caregivers and include them in care planning.
Responses will help inform future policymaking and legislative proposals. PALTmed submitted comments to the committee before the RFI’s release and will submit additional comments in response to the RFI.
