Medicare is underpaying for the care you deliver in skilled nursing facilities, and a simple fix is within reach.

When you see a patient in a skilled nursing facility (Place of Service 31), Medicare applies the facility practice expense adjustment, which assumes the facility absorbs your practice costs. But the reality of post-acute and long-term care (PALTC) practice doesn't match that assumption, and the result is a payment disparity between facility and non-facility settings that fails to reflect the true cost of delivering care to medically complex residents.

This disparity discourages PALTC clinicians from practicing in nursing homes at exactly the moment our patients need them most. Congress can urge the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to correct it, but lawmakers need to hear directly from the clinicians on the front lines.

Here's how you can help in under five minutes:

Click the link below and answer a few short questions. A personalized letter to your members of Congress will be generated and sent to your email for you to review. Once you approve it, you can send it directly to your elected officials, urging them to press CMS to fix the PALTC payment disparity.

Your members of Congress respond to their constituents. A few minutes of your time today can help protect access to care for the residents who depend on you.

Thank you for being a voice for PALTC.
